Hanne and the AMAZING planning team. Seriously, these ladies are AMAZING.
As you might have noticed, I LOVE throwing showers for people, and I especially LOVE making them themed and fun. My wonderful, dear friend Hanne has just had a sweet little baby girl, Isabelle. She is 1 month old now. Sometime before her birth we (her 4 best Vancouver friends) threw a shower for Hanne. Hanne loves all things pink and Disney. She loves a bit of cheesyness and she loves mashed potatoes (mash, as she calls it). It was obvious us to us immediately what the theme needed to be: Disney & minnie! With tons of polka dots and pink, of course.
We didn't have to get a ton extra - I had lots of pink, and we rummaged through all of my party supplies - we had a lot of it, which was awesome. Party Central in the states rounded out the rest of what we needed - they had a full disney section.
For food it was so fun to pull together our take on the classic baked potato bar - a mash bar! We had chili, creamy chicken taco mixture, bacon bits, chives, butter & sour cream, shredded cheese & boursin. We also served veg & drip, a fruit platter & meatballs. It was easy and tasty. We commissioned a beautiful Minnie Cake (Hanne is our resident cake maker, so we knew a cake for her would be imperative) and were so pleased with how it turned out.
More than just the food and the party planning events - it was wonderful to come together as friends to celebrate Hanne before she left. There were so many happy faces. She has made many friends here in Vancouver and they are greatly missed, now that they are gone.
Hanne - you are greatly loved here in Vancouver - we loved getting to throw you a party. We miss you greatly and wish only the best for you!!
